Gamla and the
 Golan Heights

The Golan Heights is noted for its natural beauty and cool climate.  It is marked by rivers, falls, mountains, streams, and breathtaking views. It is first mentioned in the Bible as a city of refuge for Israelites guilty of manslaughter (Deut. 4:34). The city of Gamla was an important holdout for the Jews during their revolt from the Romans between 66-73 AD. Israel captured Golan from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War.
